District 47 Educators Honored with ISBE Those Who Excel Awards
District 47 is proud to celebrate three outstanding educators who have been recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) through its Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year program. Nominated by educators, administrators, and community members, these awards honor educators for their dedication, collaboration, and commitment to student success.
Joanne Rivera, a Pre-K Bilingual Teacher at Glacier Ridge, and Meagan Powell, a 5th Grade Dual Language Teacher at Coventry, both received the Award of Special Recognition, an honor given to educators who are valued members of their school community and have been acknowledged by colleagues, students, families, and administrators for their passion, skills, and contributions. Kate Walsh, an Extended Curriculum Teacher at Woods Creek, was awarded the Award of Excellence, the highest honor in the Those Who Excel program, for her commitment to the success of all students and work towards fostering a positive school culture. Her dedication to lifelong learning and ability to connect her school to the community at large make her an inspiration to fellow educators.
“These incredible educators exemplify what it means to be dedicated, passionate, and student-centered,” said Dr. Kathy Hinz, Superintendent of District 47. “Their commitment to empowering all learners and fostering inclusive and engaging learning environments makes a profound impact on our schools and community. We are incredibly proud of them.”
District 47 is proud to have such exceptional educators making a difference in students’ lives every day. Congratulations to Joanne Rivera, Kate Walsh, and Meagan Powell on this well-deserved recognition!
